MEET THE TEAM

DR. DAVID ERICKSON, CO-FOUNDER,
THEOLOGIAN IN RESIDENCE
David longs to see God’s people recognize that how we live out our faith imparts theology to others. Nothing brings this into sharper focus than parenting as our daily lives constantly disciple those who know us most closely. David has previously served as a pastor and then spent fourteen years equipping pastors, missionaries, and lay leaders as a professor of Systematic and Historical Theology at a Baptist seminary. In 2023 he was elected the president of a Christian liberal arts college where he leads the faculty and staff to provide Christ-centered teaching and training that prepares students to lead meaningful lives that transform the world. David holds a Ph.D. in Theology from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, a Master of Divinity from BMA Theological Seminary, and a Bachelor of Arts in Bible from Central Baptist College.

AMANDA ERICKSON, CO-FOUNDER,
CREATIVE DIRECTOR, AND VISIONARY
Amanda is wholly and completely captivated by Jesus. A recovering perfectionist, she has found peace and purpose in the perfect love of Jesus. She’s passionate about helping moms be less stressed and angry so they can flourish in their motherhood. This passion is born out of her own experience with postpartum anxiety, rage, and anger. She delights in linking arms with other mamas so they know that gentle, peaceful, grace-based parenting isn’t only Scripturally sound—it’s actually possible! An artist and free spirit, she can often be found watercolor painting, sipping coffee on her front porch swing, and making up silly songs and snuggling with her boys.

KATHERINE STANGLIN,  LMSW, PMH-C,
THERAPIST IN RESIDENCE
With 15 years of experience in birth support services, Katherine is a Licensed Master of Social Work (LMSW) therapist with specialty training and certification as a Perinatal Mental Health specialist.

Her background as a childbirth educator, doula, and postpartum doula informs much of her practice as a therapist. Her focus is largely on providing mental health care for those experiencing difficulty surrounding infertility, pregnancy, birth, postpartum, and parenting.  She believes that when we truly support and care for mothers we are caring for the health of humanity. Katherine leads a monthly Community Mental Health Chat for members of The Mentorship community.

CARISSA SERRELL, COMMUNITY CARE MANAGER
Carissa lives with her family in the mountains of North Carolina. She started learning about gentle parenting when her first son was a baby, and once it clicked she ran with it—sharing her excitement about what she was learning. She connected with Amanda pretty early on, and they dreamed of changing the Christian parenting culture together; this role as community care manager for FHAF is an amazing outworking of that dream.

Besides sharing about parenting and supporting moms in whatever ways she can, she enjoy walking in the woods, learning about all our native trees and plants (as well as foraging and using them) watching her boys, ages 7 and 5, make new connections as they homeschool, hiking as a family, reading, drinking herbal tea, and dabbling in watercolor painting.
